My Top 10 Police Shows of All Time
- Endeavour (BBC) - the prequel to the much loved Morse, taking place in Oxford, England from the mid-60s through the early 70s.
- Hill Street Blues (NBC) - a ground breaking and gritty show for its time. It held up to a rewatching for me in 2022.
- Scott and Bailey (BBC) - taking place in Manchester, England and featuring two strong and smart(at least professionally) women detectives
- The Shield (FX) - Follows a gang of corrupt Los Angels Police Department (LAPD) cops called The Strike Team, who uses illegal methods to maintain law and order, whilst engaging in a series of undercover dealings secretly in order to get rich.
- Broadchurch (BBC)- the story of a child murder and it's aftermath in coastal Dorsett in the UK starring David Tenant and Olivia Coleman
- The Fall (BBC)- The story of an inspector fro the Metropolitan police force in London, detailed to catch a serial killer in Belfast features some of the best writing and acting of an 21st century television
- Shetland (BBC) - Taking place on the isolated islands of the north coast of Scotland, the small police force led by Inspector Jimmy Perez is a joy and a beauty to watch
- Line of Duty (BBC) - the story of three team members of AC-12, an anti-corruption unit of the PSNI in Belfast
- Foyle's War (BBC) - The story of a British police detective and his driver during and in the immediate aftermath of World War Two
- Vera - (BBC) - Taking place in the rolling hills of Northumberland in Northeast England, Inspector Vera Stanhope, a career police officer with a Land Rover full of demons leads a dedicated team in solving murders and bringing the guilty to justice.
